Waziri Mkuu wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania, Mhe. Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa (Mb) amesema jografia ya Tanzania ina fursa kubwa ya kufanya biashara ya mazao kilimo na nchi takriban saba.

Mhe. Majaliwa ameyasema hayo wakati wa majumuisho bada ya kutembelea mabanda  ya maonesho ya biashara ya Kimataifa ya Kilimo ya Nanenane yanayofanyika jijini Mbeya.

Waziri Mkuu Majaliwa amesema sera za kilimo nchini Tanzania zimebadilika na kuwa na mwelekeo wa kibiashara, hivyo ni wakati wa wanachi hususan vijana kuitumia fursa hiyo kujikwamua kiuchumi na kuchangia uchumi wa Taifa.

Waziri Mkuu Majaliwa ameongeza kuwa hatua ya Serikali kuongeza bajeti ya Wizara ya Kilimo hadi kufikia bilioni 900 ina lengo la kuwezesha idadi kubwa ya wananchi kujikwamua kiuchumi.

Aidha, Waziri Mkuu Majaliwa ameeleza kuridhishwa kwake na maandalizi ya  Maonesho ya Nane Nane kwa mwaka huu 2023, kwani ameona maboresho makubwa ikilinganiswa na yake yaliyofanyika mwaka jana.

Wakulima na Wafanyabiashara wa mazao ya kilimo wameshauriwa  kurasimisha biashara zao ili kunufaika na fursa za uuzaji na ununuzi wa mazao yao  kwa katika masoko ya ndani na nje ya nchi.

Ushauri huo umetolewa na Mchumi wa Wizara ya Kilimo,  Maria Mtui katika Maonesho ya 47 ya Biashara ya  Kimataifa  Biashara yanayoendelea kwenye Viwanja vya Sabasaba Jijini Dar es Salaam. 

 Mtui amezitaja  faida kadhaa za urasimishaji wa biashara hiyo ikiwa  ni pamoja na kuwalinda wakulima na wafanyabiashara dhidi ya usumbufu na utapeli unaotokea kwenye biashara ya mazao.

Aidha Mtui  amebainisha kuwa wakulima wa hapa nchini wataendelea kunufaika na jitihada za serikali za kutoa huduma kadhaa  ikiwemo  ruzuku  mbolea kwa  wakulima na ili  kupunguzia gharama za uzalishaji.

TANIPAC project has participated in World Food Day 2019 held at Bombardier grounds in the Singida region for addressing the demands of component two. The exhibitions had a slogan "LISHE BORA KWA ULIMWENGU USIO NA NJAA'' of which TANIPAC fits-in. This is because TANIPAC project overall goal is address poverty food security and public health as corresponding to SDG 1,2 and 3 which is also the target for the WFD celebrations.

TANIPAC project, on the other hand, is addressing unhealthy diet issues including food safety, stunting and malnutrition challenges facing the nation. By reducing aflatoxin contamination and exposure through foods, we are contributing to poverty reduction by increasing trade, increasing food and nutrients availability, thus improve the immune system and health generally. Therefore our present at this year’s celebration will make changes to people’s eating behavior by adopting safe and healthy diet practices for improved health.

The World Food Day officially commenced on 10th October 2019 and closed on 16th October 2019 with statements from the host region, the government and UN organizations regarding changing behavior and practices for attaining the SDGs for zero hunger, health and well-being. Apart from TANIPAC Project, other organizations who participated in the world food celebrations included Government Institutions, development partners, and private entrepreneurs that operates in agricultural sector.

Objective of TANIPAC Project Participation in WFD 2019

The objective of participating in these exhibitions to mark the 2019 World Food Day was to introduce the TANIPAC Project to the public, as well as to raise awareness to the public about aflatoxin occurrence in food system and its negative consequences to health and the economy, and strategies for its control.

The TANIPAC team was led by Mr. Clepin Josephat (Project Coordinator), and was composed of Mr. Mohamed Chikawe (Economist and Budget Officer), Mr. Kassim Msuya (M&E Specialist). Others include Mr. Benny Rushunju (Food Safety Specialist), Eng. Alphonce Ntanga (Project Engineer), Mr. Eli Barongo (Financial Specialist) and MS. Rose Kapungu (Office Administrator).

The team worked closely with officials from the Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa (PACA) under the leadership of Dr. Happy Magoha (Country Coordinator, PACA).The project also partnered with AgroZ and IITA in order to comprehensively address the issue of aflatoxin from practices to technologies.
